All AST explosion-proof products share a CSA 30 (UL1203/FM3615) Class I Division 1 Zone 1 Group IIC rating for Groups A, B, C, and D. Each product is also certified to ANSI/ISA 12.27.01-2007 Single Seal as required in the Canadian market. All products are also designed with a factory sealed conduit, including low pressure vented gauge transmitters. Other approvals such as ABS certification for marine and offshore equipment as well as Class II Division 1 approval for mining, are available on select products. Transmitters are available with CRN certification to standard B31.3 in certain configurations and materials.

The top of the diaphragm is "vented" or "open" to atmospheric pressure through the use of a sintered plug. This allows the sensor to adjust for differences in barometric pressure. The plug itself is constructed of small holes that allow pressure through, but do not allow a flame to penetrate. The vent design has been tested and certified by CSA to continue to meet all explosion-proof requirements.
Sealed Gauge (PSIS)
The sensor measuring pressure is sealed from atmospheric pressure on the date of calibration. The sensor will not adjust for changes in barometric pressure. For higher pressure ranges, this is less of a factor, because the difference in barometric pressure is a smaller percentage of the full scale output signal.
All AST products with explosion-proof ratings feature a conduit fitting that is certified as factory sealed. Vented sensors adjust for barometric pressure through the side of the transmitter.

Additionally, AST now manufactures a differential pressure transducer with line pressures up to 5,000 PSI (350 bar). Designed to withstand high pressure hydraulic systems or low pressure pneumatics, the AST5400 differential pressure transducer is a simple, low cost solution for pressure feedback for filter monitoring, flow verification, and torque calculation. The AST5400 is also avaiable in explosion proof and non-incendive version. It can be designed with 316L, Hastelloy C276, Inconel 718, or 17-4 PH stainless steel.
