Overview

The mission of American Sensor Technologies, Inc. is to be "your sensor business partner..." American Sensor Technologies, Inc. (AST) was incorporated in New Jersey on January 9, 1997, by Richard E. Tasker, Michael P. Eldredge and Karmjit S. Sidhu, for the purpose of developing MEMS (Micro-Electro Mechanical Structures) pressure sensor products with their proprietary Krystal Bond&trade Technology.

The dynamics of AST's technologies allow its pressure sensing element to be packaged in virtually an unlimited number of configurations along with offering millivolt, amplified voltage, or current outputs. Products can be offered from our standard catalog or modified into a semi-custom or custom package for OEM applications.

Founders Profiles

Richard E. Tasker, President and Chief Executive Officer, dedicates his efforts to the design and development of sensor technologies and their manufacturing processes. Prior to co-founding AST, Mr. Tasker was the Worldwide Engineering Manager for Measurement Specialties, Inc. (MSI), a developer, manufacturer and distributor of consumer and industrial electronics. Previously he was employed by the Foxboro Company, now Invensys, in various positions including General Manager of the ICT sensor division for 18 years. Mr. Tasker earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire and has authored five patents relating to sensors.

He also designed the computer power supply that was used on the MIR Space Lab and has been in continuous use on the Space Shuttles since flight #67 (1995).

Karmjit S. Sidhu, Vice President - Business Development, spearheads sales and marketing and also focuses his efforts on the conceptual design of new products. Prior to co-founding AST, Mr. Sidhu was the Chief Transducer Engineer for Measurement Specialties, responsible for the growth of their pressure sensor business. Before joining Measurement Specialties, he was employed by Lucas Control Systems Products, formerly known as Schaevitz Engineering. Mr. Sidhu holds a BS in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and a MS in Industrial Measurement Systems from Brunel University, England.

He is also a Doctoral candidate at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). Mr Sidhu is also named on patents relating to numerous sensor technologies.

Michael P. Eldredge, Executive Vice President, Chief Operating & Financial Officer and Secretary, brings business, management, and financial expertise to AST.  Prior to AST, Michael Eldredge was the Vice President of Finance & CFO of Townley, Inc., a manufacturer and distributor of consumer products.  Earlier, he was the Corporate Controller of Measurement Specialties, Inc., a developer and manufacturer of consumer and industrial electronic devices.  For many years Michael was the Treasurer and Chief Accounting Officer for Biosearch Medical Products, a developer, manufacturer and distributor of high-technology medical devices.  In addition to the above and during his 30-year career, Michael has held various senior financial positions with other more noted companies such as Johnson & Johnson and Lederle Laboratories.  Michael is a graduate of Rutgers University with a degree in Finance and Accounting.  In 2006, Michael was the recipient of the CFO of the Year award from a  program sponsored by the New Jersey Technology Council.

Collectively the owners bring more than 80 years of industry experience, assuring the company's ability to manage fast-paced business growth, while sustaining frequent introductions of new technologies and products.
